It is important to know the types of retroreflective tape that exist, as they are one of the most important safety measures in workwear. These make it possible to make people visible in the environment, to prevent possible accidents.

The different types of retroreflective tape allow workers and athletes to be viewed during the day, in bright environments or at night, in dark environments.

It is important to know the types of retroreflective tape that exist, as they are one of the most important safety measures in workwear. These make it possible to make people visible in the environment, to prevent possible accidents.

Types of retroreflective tape: What are they?

A reflective tape is a film that allows light or radiation to be reflected back to its source, regardless of its location. This is possible by using glass spheres or artificial prisms.

Regardless of the type of retroreflective tape in question, these should always be of high strength and quality. In addition, it is important to emphasize its good maintenance, for good durability.

Main characteristics of TS2 Ibérica retroreflective tapes

  • High visibility: in night conditions, or compromised visibility or in inclement weather, the priority of these tapes is to give excellent visibility at a great distance.

  • Flame retardants: they are used to being non-flammable, before the manipulation of combustible substances. In addition to needing high visibility, this type of tape provides a resistance that protects the worker’s clothing from heat and flames.

  • Personalized: you can sew the name of your company, a logo or a message every 18 centimetres.

Microprismatic Tapes

These are robust tapes, designed to resist both the accidental use of solvents and the inclement weather that the worker and his uniform must go through. They are PVC tapes that make use of the reflective light principle, but are also flexible, very manageable and resistant to washing.

At TS2 Ibérica, we have the following types of microprismatic tapes at your disposal:

It is a thin and flexible ribbon in coloured boxes resistant to solvents and inclement weather, designed to be sewn on high visibility garments.

It is an economical retroreflective standard tape that offers high resistance to solvents and possible inclement weather, guaranteeing visibility for the worker.

It is a thin and flexible tape resistant to solvents and inclement weather, designed to be sewn on high visibility garments. It has a superior and durable performance in any atmospheric condition.

It has a sealed outer surface with an extraordinary resistance to abrasion. It has a thin and flexible monolayer of fluorescent lime colour for fire-fighting applications, which allows offering greater durability and performance.

Consists of a thin flexible monolayer retroreflective fluorescent lime colour band, which offers a very high level of brightness, which makes it visible even in environments with very low lighting.

It is reflected in colour throughout the night and in all weather conditions, with superior visibility at long distance, to offer greater safety.

It is resistant to solvents and inclement weather.

Microspherical sewing tapes

This type of retroreflective tape allows the greatest possible visualization. Thus, it provides the highest protection of workers, with a wide capacity for retroreflection. They are tapes that improve the visibility of the user and reduce the risk of being run over. In this way, they are ideal to be used on roads, railways, airports, warehouses or shipyards. Their effectiveness makes them suitable, not only for workwear, but also for sportswear.

Next, the models of microspherical tapes for sewing that we have in TS2 Ibérica:

It differs by its high retroreflectance and its excellent value for money. It serves both for professional high visibility signage clothing, and for non-professional use.

Has a polyester and cotton base, which provides an economical solution to basic high visibility garments such as pants or vests.

Can be obtained with a central gray stripe and in two colours: yellow and orange. In addition, it is a microperforated tape that allows to offer greater breathability.

It is made and manufactured in a cotton base, on a layer of microscopic glass spheres. It is recommended for those costumes that require resistance, both to heat and to direct contact with the flame.

Microspherical tapes for heat sealing

They are applied to garments by heat, providing high flexibility, and thus allowing them to adjust to the movements of the person. The high reflection index glass spheres, along with their metallic base, function as a mirror when it receives a light source.

In TS2 Ibérica, we have the following types of microspherical tapes for thermosetting:

It is ideal for waterproof garments.

They are used in garments in the petrochemical or railway industrial sector.

It is a yellow ribbon, which has the retroreflective central part in gray, being a very breathable fireproof wardrobe.

It is waterproof and suitable for garments such as waterproof jackets or pants for welding.

In addition, in TS2 Ibérica we have a printer or graphic design software, to produce or visualize an image with unlimited customization possibilities. In this way, we can offer the following models of microspherical tapes for heat sealing with plotter:

They are retroreflective tapes designed to be easily cut with a plotter. When applied by heat, they allow unlimited customization.

It is an elastic tape that is ideal for garments whose proximity to human skin requires a certain flexibility.
