Since 2011, the Vehicle Regulations have introduced a new requirement for some Spanish vehicles to carry reflective tape. The reflective tape must be placed around the perimeter of the rear and sides of the vehicles. It is currently referred to as V-23.
The V23 signal consists of reflective tapes for vehicles 5 centimeters wide, in white or yellow for the sides and red for the rear (marking the upper and lower corners to create a box).
It must be applied to the edges of the box, outlining the perimeter of the trailer. The references sold in Spain are in the form of adhesive tape, visible from more than 500 meters and capable of increasing visibility up to 1000 meters. Additionally, they have a lifespan of approximately 7 years.
